Parking Permits:
General Information:
All vehicles parked on campus on a regular basis must be registered with the UND Parking Office. You are not required to purchase a permit, however it is strongly suggested. Parking in any lot on campus requires your vehicle to display a valid UND parking permit at all times. Without a permit you could only park for a limited time in timed zones, loading zones, or by using the pay parking option in the ramp or meters. Permits are the best option. Starting this year permits will be sold by going through your campus connection site and purchasing your permit on line. This is will be available after June 15th. Please check our site again after that date for more specific instructions. If you are planning to register your vehicle only and not purchase a permit, that would need to be done through the Parking Office by stopping in or calling our main number. (701-777-3551).
Specific lots are assigned and permits are sold based on where you reside during the school year. Depending on where you live; which residence hall, University Apartment, or off campus, please select the appropriate permit. Our permits are sold for the entire year. The rate is $115 for surface lots or $300 for a ramp permit. Ramp permits offer guaranteed availability of a space on the lower levels and parking on the student surface lots. Temporary permits are available if you are planning to have a vehicle on campus for a short period of time. The rates for temporary permits are $5 per day or $20 per week. If you purchase a permit for the entire year, and decide you no longer need it, you can return it to the Parking Office for a possible prorated refund.
Permits must be displayed from the rear view mirror of the vehicle. If you are driving a motorcycle on campus you will need to register it with the Parking Office. Motorcycle permits are required, but if you have a valid UND vehicle permit the motorcycle permit is free. Motorcycles are required to park in regular vehicle spaces or areas designated for motorcycle parking. They can not be parked at bike racks, pedestrian walkways, or sidewalks.
If you live in the University apartments, a housing decal is required along with your vehicle permit to identify where you live. This decal is free of charge and needs to be obtained from the Parking Office.
If you have any questions or special situations that arise, please contact the Parking Office (701-777-3551) for assistance.
